Keep the Beat!

Multi-lingual world music concert featuring folk songs from around the globe pulsating with energy & interactivity to emphasize of how people are all connected by music, history, and daily interactions. Performed in at least 6 languages, Spanish, Hebrew, Hindi, Yoruba Zulu, French, Italian, Arabic, Latin, and English. Keep The Beat! encourages audiences to further develop an "inner"standing, respecting the ever-present diversity in language use, patterns, and dialects across cultures, ethnic groups, geographic regions, and social roles. Through engaging classroom activities both before and after the show, students are connected with geography and literacy standards. Children exposed to these songs will not only be singing them for many years to come but hopefully will be inspired to become loving and open-minded participants in the global community.

Robbi K's spirit is clearly contagious as the entire audience is soon singing and clapping along with Osebo's Drum while Robbi sets the scene for this traditional African "Pour Quoi?" folktale about a tiny turtle, Akiki-Y'Kia, who uses kindness and thinking to succeed. An adventure ensues to everyone's delight in the theatrical style of storytelling, exposing the traits & personalities of each character.
